ITS Europe, Toulouse, France May 30 – June 1
CIE and our successful connected cycling project BITS (Bicycles and ITS) will be putting cycling on the agenda at the most important annual conference for connected and digitalized mobility. The BITS panel “Smart cycling: how to make multimodal mobility mainstream” with speakers from the EU Commission, BITS partner Province of Overijssel and other associations is on Wednesday 1st June from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
The session will deal with the opportunities for cycling and active mobility within the new European Urban Mobility Framework and the reviewed ITS Directive. The discussion will cover the potential of ITS tools such as data services, information sharing and access controls in improving the take up of cycling in EU cities and facilitating a multi-modal approach to urban mobility.

Reframing Mountain Biking, IMBA Europe 10th Anniversary Summit, Val di Sole, Italy June 1-4
If your company provides products and services to the MTB market then the IMBA 2022 Summit is a must-attend event. Set in the spectacular setting of the Italian Alps the renowned venue of Val di Sole will host the four-day summit from 1st to 4th June, including a full conference programme, side events, rides and technical visits all under the theme “Reframing Mountain Biking”.
At the IMBA EU 10th Anniversary Summit CIE will be joined by representatives of SRAM, Giant, Patagonia, WTB, German national industry association ZIV and other companies for an exclusive industry round table, inviting leaders in the sector to debate how we can do more to grow mountain biking in Europe through collective action.
Velo-city 2022, Cycling the Change, Ljubljana, Slovenia June 14-17
Velo-city, the world cycling summit, is where advocates, cities, decision makers, researchers and industry leaders meet to shape the future of cycling. Like no other event, the conference offers a knowledge-exchange and policy-transfer platform to the growing number of more than 1400 Velo-citizens from over 60 countries involved in the policy, promotion and provision for cycling, active mobility and sustainable urban development.
Once again CIE will be present with the CIE Pavilion for our members to showcase their activities and we will be widely represented throughout the programme, as will our projects and partnerships such as City Changer Cargo Bike, BITS and Women in Cycling.

Smart Pedal Pitch @ Velo-city, semi-final and finals on 15-16 June
Once again the only dedicated innovation competition for smart connected cycling will be back at Velo-city 2022. Whether you want to compete for the €17,000 in cash prizes or come and see what’s hot in cycling innovation then Smart Pedal Pitch is the place to be.

BITS Academy Arhus, Denmark 23 June
The BITS Academy ‘Smart Traffic Management for cycling’ is planned on 23rd June in Aarhus from 13:00 to 17:30 followed by a networking drink. The academy will deal with the ITS solutions for traffic management that facilitate the use of cycling, focusing on the successful experience of Danish municipalities like BITS partner Aarhus and the city of Copenhagen.

Eurobike, Frankfurt, Germany July 13-17
The world’s biggest bicycle trade fair has a new home in Frankfurt, and a new focus on mobility and innovation. CIE is the official European Innovation partner of Eurobike and we will be there with a complete programme, including the final conference of our hugely successful project City Changer Cargo Bike.
Highlights from the CIE programme at Eurobike will include:
City Changer Cargo Bike Final Conference, in partnership with the Eurobike Convention and the Cargo Bike Academy. Two days of urban mobility and cargo bikes, with high level contributors from cities, government and industry, showing how cargo bikes are now an essential part of future mobility. Leaders’ Breakfast. The top event for industry leaders is back in its usual position on Thursday morning, providing inspiration and strategic oversights for CEOs, Presidents and directors in the bike sector. We will be collaborating with our industry partners at EU and German level to bring the industry right up to date with key developments from growth projects to supply chain impacts.
Startup and innovation day. CIE’s Cycling Innovation Network and our Bicycles and ITS Project for digital innovators will both the bringing the latest thinking on how to accelerate innovation and investment in our industries. More information here
Sustainability Experts’ Meeting. Leading experts from companies and national cycling industry associations will be gathering at Eurobike to share next steps in industrial initiatives and new regulations for sustainability in our sector, with a public event to engage more companies. (in partnership with CONEBI)
Also in the pipeline: “Bridging the Gap”, CIE’s supply chain research project will be at Eurobike, along with Women in Cycling, which aims to create more roles for women employees in the sector. Details to be announced.
