- What are you most excited about for 2021?
We started production in summer 2020 and proudly delivered our first vehicles in November 2020. For 2021, we are particularly looking forward to expanding our roll-out to other German cities and then select cities in Europe. In addition, we are further developing and strengthening our service and maintenance network to better serve our clients. - What do you see as a major challenge in the cycling industry and how can CIE play a role in overcoming that challenge?
We see a particular challenge in ensuring that our innovative design of an eCargo bike can be used on the cycle paths and roads in Germany and in other European countries. At the moment, the technical regulations are open, especially in Germany, but in other countries the use of cargo bikes with a width of more than one meter and a higher permissible total weight is limited. Nevertheless, we think that these larger load bikes are a great solution for inner-city traffic problems faced by last mile logistics. They take up very little space, require little and only green energy, are cheaper to buy, lease and maintain, and yet they can move large loads. That is why we are looking forward to tackling these challenges together with CIE and to being part of a strong and active network. - What/who in the cycling industry inspires you?
The ONO Team! Haha, we always say: think big and get sh*t done. To achieve this, the founders are pursuing a truly unique holistic vision of sustainable urban mobility that goes far beyond the production of our first vehicle. I take my hat off to this pioneering spirit and I am curious to see how the next years will develop. - Describe in 5 words how cycling is saving the world?
