JobRad GmbH

Ulrich Prediger

JobRad GmbH is the market leader in the service of bike leasing and has been putting people on bikes for more than ten years. As a mobility service provider, JobRad organizes the leasing of bikes between employers and employees in a simple and cost-neutral manner with a digital portal solution. Over 20,000 employers (e.g. Bosch, SAP and Deutsche Bahn) with more than two million employees are already using JobRad as a sustainable mobility concept that attracts talent, keeps employees fit and protects the environment.

  1. What are you most excited about for 2020?
At the end of 2019, based on our political work, it had already become apparent that the promotion of bike leasing would improve again. At the beginning of January we received the good news that, based on the federal government's annual tax laws of 2019, the tax base for the so-called monetary benefit would be halved again - users are currently benefiting from the 0.25% rule (details). Furthermore, we are very happy about the introduction of JobRad in Baden-Württemberg that will follow this year. Baden-Wüttemberg is the first federal state to offer its employees bike leasing. This is a great political signal and promotes the country's role model function towards its residents. Pleasing: Other federal states are already thinking about the introduction of bike leasing (details).
  2. What do you see as a major challenge in the cycling industry and how can CIE play a role in overcoming that challenge?
The bicycle has already reached public debate, but is not yet sufficiently taken into account in political decisions. Especially in topics that are not traditionally linked to the bike, such as fiscal policy, there is still a lot of catching up to do. The CIE helps the industry to position itself in an interdisciplinary manner and gives all areas a powerful voice. Together we can offer new approaches and initiate a sustainable change in mobility - this can all be achieved under the umbrella of the CIE.
  3. What/who in the cycling industry inspires you?
Someone who inspires me is Hannes Neupert, who has been fighting for the acceptance of Pedelecs for more than two decades. I think that without him, e-Bikes wouldn't be one of the most successful products of the industry ever brought to the market.
  4. Describe in 5 words how cycling is saving the world?
I only need two: Cycling connects!
