Join CIE, ECF and Frans Timmermans at a HIGH-LEVEL MAYORS PANEL

CIE's mission is to make the voice of the cycling industries heard at the EU level. We are proud to announce that our advocacy work has been a big success with the EU’s Executive Vice President and Green Deal Chief Frans Timmermans agreeing to put himself up as cycling’s highest political supporter in Europe, “a champion of cycling”.

CIE’s President Tony Grimaldi said:

“When we founded CIE our plan was to put the cycling industries at the top of the EU’s most important policies such as climate change, digitalisation and sustainability. Now, thanks to the outstanding work of our Brussels team we have Frans Timmermans, the most influential politician in the EU for these topics committing himself to be a political champion for cycling. I know from the meetings I have been attending that this extraordinary opportunity has been created by the professionalism of our team, I congratulate them and our partners ECF for this breakthrough in influence. This is just the beginning of what we can build with this kind of support.”

This comes into play during one of the most important momentum for the Industry as important documents are being drafted. For instance, the European Commission published a Recovery Plan for Europe – called Next Generation EU – this autumn consisting of significant funding of 750 billion euros to be invested across different pillars, amongst which 30% has to be climate investments. Hence, we, at CIE, are strongly engaged to show policy-makers that #MoreCycling delivers all the goals set in these files and that the Industry represents the ‘fast track’ to the member states’ recovery.

Now, CIE and our partners the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) would like to invite you to join Frans Timmermans for a high-level round table discussion with a panel of EU Mayors and transport ministers on Friday 30 October from 10.00 – 11.30 am (CET).
