THE FUTURE OF EUROPEAN CYCLING
The Cycles Expert Group serves as the primary technical and strategic engine for the European cycling industry. In a rapidly evolving mobility landscape, it acts as a link between manufacturers, national associations, and European policymakers.
The Expert Group is dedicated to ensuring that the legislative environment keeps pace with the speed of innovation. It works to harmonise industry positions across the continent and advocates for a regulatory framework that simultaneously prioritises innovation, safety, quality. To ensure that European rules remain proportionate, coherent, and forward-looking for the sector, the Expert Group's efforts range from traditional bicycles, through e-bikes, to the latest cargo solutions and beyond!
OBJECTIVES
- Developing unified, pan-European positions to ensure the cycling industryโs voice is heard during legislative process.
- Protecting the technical benchmarks that have enabled the e-bike and bicycle sectors to thrive across the Internal Market.
- Engaging directly with institutional bodies to ensure that future regulations are evidence-based and promote industry growth.
- Serving as a high-level forum for members to share intelligence on emerging trends and regulatory shifts.
- Aligning national and international standardization efforts to prevent market fragmentation and ensure a level playing field.
- Drafting guidance and position papers that protect and promote technical excellence in the industry.
- Overseeing the industry's approach to sustainability and product integrity to maintain consumer trust and safety.
