Urban planner with an undergraduate degree in International Relations from PUC-RIO, and MSc in Urban Management from the Technical University of Berlin. Her work has focused on improving urban environments with special attention to people and their experiences. Originally from Brazil, she has lived in Germany, Kosovo, and now in Colombia, working for national and international consulting firms. As a specialist in urban management, Marina has experience in the coordination and implementation of projects in sustainable urban mobility, bicycles, gender and transportation, regional and local planning, and citizen participation. At Despacio, she is the Technical Director and leads projects that promote urban development and sustainable transport in Latin America. Marina is also the Director of Operations for Women in Motion, an initiative focused on strengthening women's leadership in the transportation agenda, and has won the Remarkable Women in Transport recognition from the TUMI Initiative (2020). She has recently coordinated several gender-focused sustainable mobility research projects, such as the research on women's mobility experience in Bogotá with WRI, the diagnosis of women's mobility in Cundinamarca, and a research project and participatory co-construction of indicators for open public transport procurement with a gender perspective.
