Kirsten Pfaue coordinates the mobility transition in the City of Hamburg, Germanys second largest city. One of the main goals is to make Hamburg a cycle-friendly city and to increase the cycling rate within the modal split to 30% by 2030. This will require a well-developed cycling infrastructure which can safely be used all year round along with a comprehensive range of information and services like Bike+Ride facilities at rapid transit stations, the enhancement of the public cycle hire system, StadtRAD Hamburg, the extension of winter surface and the implementation of a pro-cycling communication campaign. The heart is the Alliance of Cycling and its Programme of Work. The programme will incorporate detailed implementation steps and assigned tasks for all necessary measures in the fields of infrastructure, service and communication. The Borough Offices and the Ministry Ministry of Transport and Mobility Transition shall conclude annual agreements on the implementation of infrastructure measures; these agreements shall constitute a binding component of the Alliance for Cycling.
